Olympic Flame in our school
On the morning of July 29th, the Beijing Olympic Games Touch Relay come to Shijiazhuang, The 25th torch bearer, Wilma O'Sullivan, who came to Shijiazhuang in 1995 from Scotland, now she is teaching in Shijiazhuang Foreign Language School. The shouts of the cheering squad were heard now and then, the cheering leader is her elder sister, has come a long way from Canada. Wilma said : “I haven’t met my sister four years, today this a special time, I’m very happy that my family member can share this joyful and glorious moment with me.” She said to reporter: “Shijiazhuang has become my second hometown; I have many Chinese friends here. This city give me a sense of belonging, I like Chinese culture.” In 2003, when the SARS suddenly came to Shijiazhuang, Wilma chose to stay with school. She said: “when this city has problem, I won’t run away.” Wilma’s lively teaching methods are not only deeply loved by the students, but also help won the “Outstanding Foreign Teacher Prize”, “Yan Zhao Friendship Prize” and “National Friendship prize”.  Today, her elder sister and the friends arrive at Shijiazhuang, gathering together to see the torch relay of Olympics, Wilma can’t find a word to express her excitement. “When I was a little child, I dreamed of if I can join the Olympics. When I told my friends in my hometown, they were very happy. The next Olympic Games will be held in London, I hope I can be a torch bearer again!” Wilma said.

Fire-fighting drill

On Nov 24th the foreign affair office and security office hold a fire-fighting drill for the foreign teachers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The purpose of this activity is to prevent accidents and protect foreign teacher’s safety. First, Director Zhang from security office explained how to use a fire extinguisher properly. After that, the foreign teachers divided into three groups to put out the fire by using the knowledge that they have learned. Foreign affair office also prepared some fire prevention tips and security requirements for everyone to make sure that they can protect themselves in the accident.
